From one of our guests

Dr Ehsan Valipur, Lecturer at the University of Mazandaran in Iran, has recently visited us to consult the collection of books on Persian architecture held at the Bibliotheca Orientalis. This is what he had to say about his experience.

Many thanks to Dr Valipur for sharing his views with us.

“I’m Ehsan Valipour, Ph.D. graduate from Sapienza University. I’m so honoured to share my perspective about the specialised library of Prof. Petruccioli that has focused on Islamic architecture. As it’s so clear, Islamic architecture has different routs such as culture, history and climate that some of them are common in different regions which these subjects could define general character of Islamic architecture. To understand and reach to this point, researchers should study some references that maybe it could not be so easy to find them in same place and same time which this center is doing it. This library could be so helpful to provide this chance for young researchers face to different views of Islamic architectures that this issue could make some start points which maybe you did not plan on them before. It’s better to say, visiting this library could be as a short tour for many students that they are a bit far from the reality and variety of Islamic architecture and find their specific interest in world of Islamic architecture”.
